Winger Philip Zinckernagel is set to change clubs for the second time this summer, just two months after leaving Watford. The information comes from Belgian outlet DH, who claims that his new club Olympiakos are ready to let him move to Standard Liege. Before explaining what is going on, we better recall what happened to Zinckernagel in the past few months. Signed by Watford on a free transfer from FK Bodø/Glimt in January 2021, the club didn’t make much use of him, so, the following summer, they loaned him out to Nottingham Forest.

After his his 50 appearances for the Reds, he returned to the Hornets. That’s when Olympiakos, who share the same owners as the City Ground side, went for his signing, and paid €2m to buy him this summer. It turns out that, as explained by DH, there’s been a change of managers at the Greek club, as Carlos Corberan took Pedro Martins’ job, and the new manager doesn’t count on Zinckernagel for the season. That’s why Olympiakos have now accepted to see him move to Standard Liege, as they’re letting him go on a loan deal and ready to do his medicals

As a matter of fact, they are one of the biggest spenders in European football as far as this summer’s transfer window is concerned. It has been reported that Nottingham Forest are closing in on a deal to sign Hwang Ui-Jo from French side Bordeaux for £4m before he's loaned to Olympiakos in the Greek league. FOREST HERO AND TWO EX-REDS SUFFER CHAMPIONS LEAGUE NIGHTMARE

Nottingham Forest promotion winner Philip Zinckernagel and ex-Reds duo Joao Carvalho and Andreas Bouchalakis are out of the Champions League. The trio were all involved as Olympiacos were dumped out of the competition by Maccabi Haifa. After a 1-1 draw in Israel, the Evangelos Marinakis-owned team were hugely fancied to finish the job on home soil. The Champions League dream became a nightmare though, with Olympiacos on the wrong end of a 4-0 thrashing.

Goals from former QPR man Tjaronn Chery, two from Frantzdy Pierrot and a late goal from Mohammad Abu Fani ensure a night of misery. Pedro Martins might have some explaining to do. Marinakis is proud of the club’s Champions League inclusion and this won’t do. All is not lost for the club. Their defeat means they will now enter the Europa League in the third qualifying round.
